The special intention of today’s adoration is Vocations to the Priesthood and Consecrated Life. The Litany of the Sacred Heart and Benediction will take place at 3:00pm.

Below is a photo of the original statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus (from 1899), fully restored by Conrad Schmitt Studios in June, 2007. This statue was rededicated on June 17, 2007-the 100th anniversary of the consecration of St. Mary’s Church by the Right Revered Thomas O’Gorman, Second Bishop of Sioux Falls.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.

Memorial Day Mass and Blessing of Graves

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

On Monday, May 26, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Salem. About 60 parishioners came out on a very windy day. The ordination chalice of Msgr. John Bernard Weber, third pastor of St. Mary’s (1898-1956), was used for the Holy Mass, which was offered near his grave before the Cemetery Crucifix.
